Lovebirds

Size: 19.5″ T x 7″ W x 7″ D

Edition of 37 ©2023

These adorable Peach-faced lovebirds, originally from Africa were introduced in the Phoenix area in the mid-1980s.  This area is home to roughly 2,000 of them and their appearance created confusion and curiosity among local residents, especially those in the birding community.  They especially like Saguaro Cactus living and hanging out in groups in the palm trees and bottlebrush.  Lovebirds are “renowned” for their sleep position in which they sit side-by-side and turn their faces in towards each other.  They take frequent baths and the females “twisty tie” materials onto their back and fly substantial distances back to make a nest.
